Dorothea Braemer – Bio

I’m a filmmaker, arts advocate, and educator. I am interested in art and media as an agent for social change and cultural initiatives that are located outside of the mainstream. From 2003-2012 I was the executive director of Squeaky Wheel/Buffalo Media Resources. In 2011 I received a Fulbright Senior Lecture award to create a documentary about the role of pioneering rural cultural groups in the State of Brandenburg, Germany. My award-winning films have shown in many different venues, ranging from the Museum of Modern Art and public television to small micro cinemas, festivals and community centers in the US, Canada, India, and Europe. I received a BA in Art and Russian Literature from the University of Massachusetts in Boston and an MFA in Film and Media Arts from Temple University in Philadelphia.
